Samba Masuri vs Sona Masoori - Glycemic Index

Reported Glycemic Index of Samba Masuri rice is 51 whereas Sona Masoori rice registers 72.(Can someone clarify this?)

Higher GI food items are generally not recommended for consumption by diabetics. They can contribute to increase in blood sugar levels and make medical management of diabetes more intensive and sometimes challenging.

Low GI Food items are good for those who are trying to lose weight due to low calories. It is also easy to digest. While basmati is good for those who have high blood sugar levels due to its low glycemic index, it also has a number of varieties and is priced slightly higher.
